Gov. Greg Abbott is threatening to remove Texas Democrats from office after they fled the state in an attempt to block a partisan redrawing of the congressional map drawn up by state Republicans with the support of President Donald Trump. The new map would potentially give the GOP a path to pick up five more seats in next year’s midterm elections and divide up districts in traditionally blue cities like Austin, Houston and Dallas. NBC’s Ryan Chandler reports for TODAY.
